WHAT IS THE ATOS-METHOD?
The ATOS-method is a set of 6 short mental exercises to activate and harmonize the cerebral cortex (neocortex). It serves to balance physical and mental processes and has both short-term and long-term effects.
The method can be used in practically all life situations.
Once a person has understood and internalized the exercises, they can be performed effectively within a few minutes.
The basic principles of the ATOS-method are derived from scientific findings and research results in psychology and neurology. Its effects tested and confirmed in a scientific study.
WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF THE ATOS-METHOD?
The ATOS exercises have an activating effect on the cerebral cortex (neocortex), as well as harmonizing mind and body. This can be compared to the tuning of a musical instrument, whereby each string is individually adjusted to the appropriate tension, and in addition all strings are harmoniously tuned to one another so that the instrument (mind and body) is in state of “ready-to-play”.
The ATOS exercises have two objectives:
1. Activation of harmonizing processes
The exercises harmonize the functioning of the sympathetic and parasympathetic states of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). This removes any existing blockages so that the body and mind have the chance to re-balance themselves and return to their optimal state. With this the organism gets the chance to activate its self-healing powers and regeneration processes in order to promote health.
In addition to this, emotional stability and resilience are strengthened.
2. Promote mental functions
In the long run, practicing the ATOS exercises leads to an improvement in the ability to concentrate and it increases perception as well as mindfulness.
Good attention is particularly desirable in everyday life. Good concentration is the prerequisite for learning more efficiently, developing better memory and activating creative potential.
In short: one’s own experience becomes sharper and more intense.
The importance of good concentration can easily be observed in high-performance athletes. Through “mental training” they put themselves in a state in which they are optimally concentrated and ready to perform – this allows them to achieve top performance.
Another example are meditation-masters of different traditions. They also acquire an excellent ability to concentrate through their practices, which is the basis for their extraordinary abilities.
In addition, the ATOS method causes increased activity and blood flow to the brain, which can delay neuronal aging processes and prevent degenerative diseases.
THE FOLLOWING POSITIVE EFFECTS CAN BE ACHIEVED:
- Entry and activation of an optimal state of consciousness
- Rationalization of the consumption of energy resources of the body
- Re-activation of the biological program of harmony in the Limbic System and the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS)
- Increase in physical immunity and resiliance
- Activation of those resources that are needed for an upcoming activity
- Accelerating personal development
- Sharpening of the senses
- Maintaining emotional stability
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THE ATOS-METHOD?
The ATOS-method is suitable for anyone who wants to increase their health, emotional stability and efficiency. From the age of 8 onwards, throughout the entire life.
HOW WAS THE ATOS-METHOD DEVELOPED?
The term ATOS stands for “Autogenic Training Without Suggestion”.
The ATOS method is the result of many years of work by Prof. Dipl. Psych. Milenko Vlajkov. It arose from the realization that relaxation techniques only have very limited applications and that their long-term use often causes more harm than benfit.
To explain this, we – once more – can use the image of a musical instrument:
The human state of stress is like the string of a musical instrument. To create a harmonious euphony, you need exactly the right tension. If the tension is too high, it will sound painfully sharp or, even worse, the string will break apart. If it is too relaxed – there is no tension – no sound comes out and it cannot be played.
Relaxation techniques initially offer relief in severe stress conditions, but in the long term lead to a lack of motivation and a reduction in resilience.
The ATOS method overcomes these limitations of relaxation techniques. The exercises create a slight but beneficial physical and mental tension – a state between stress (too much tension) and complete relaxation (too little tension). In this state, serenity arises, but at the same time body and mind also become awake and active.
In this way, you can respond optimally to environmental requirements and use your own energy in such a way that only as much energy is used as the current task requires – no more, but no less.
THE ATOS-METHOD CAN BE USED FOR THE FOLLOWING INDICATIONS:
Psychosomatic disorders and functional diseases
Object addictions (e.g. cell phone addiction or digital media)
Burnout-prevention and -treatment
In combination with other psychotherapeutic procedures, the ATOS-method consolidates the achieved therapeutic results achieved.
The ATOS method can also be used to prevent relapses of mental illnesses/crises.
